The Best Honeymoon Destinations Right Now

Every list of the best honeymoon destinations looks the same until you add the two questions that matter: when are you travelling, and what kind of couple are you? Here is our concierge-desk list, with honest notes.
1. The Maldives
The benchmark for barefoot romance. Overwater villas, house reefs, absolute privacy. Best December to April — our guide to the best time to visit the Maldives goes month by month. Choose the island as carefully as the country; each resort is its own world.
2. The Amalfi Coast, Italy
For couples who want beauty with a pulse: terraces, boat days, long dinners. May, June and September are golden; August is a squeeze.
3. The Greek Islands
Santorini for the caldera drama, Milos and Folegandros for quiet. Combine two or three by private transfer and the trip becomes a small odyssey.
4. Kenya & the Indian Ocean
Safari mornings, champagne sundowners, then a short flight to a beach in Zanzibar or the Seychelles. The classic “bush and beach” — unbeatable July to October.
5. Bali & the Indonesian islands
Jungle mornings, rice-terrace walks, private pool villas at gentle prices for the level of luxury. Dry season May to September.
6. French Polynesia
Bora Bora remains the postcard, but Taha’a and Rangiroa reward couples who go one island further. Far, and worth it — ideal for two-week journeys.
7. Japan
For culture-first couples: ryokans, onsen, kaiseki dinners and bullet-train ease. Cherry blossom (late March–April) and autumn leaves (November) are the showpieces.
8. South Africa & Mozambique
Cape Town, the Winelands, a Sabi Sands safari, then Mozambique’s dunes and dhows. Enormous variety in one seamless route.
9. The Seychelles
Granite boulders, empty beaches, easy island-hopping. Less structured than the Maldives — better for couples who like to explore barefoot.
10. Morocco
Riads in Marrakech, Atlas Mountain lodges and Sahara camps under the stars. Short flights from Europe, maximum atmosphere — spring and autumn are ideal.
How to choose between them
Fix your dates first; the season will eliminate half the list for you — the same principle that opens our guide to planning a luxury honeymoon. Then decide the ratio of rest to adventure. If you are torn between two, combine them — that is what honeymoons are for. And if the two are the Maldives and the Caribbean, we have settled that argument here.
Tell us your dates and your daydream, and we will shortlist the right ones for you — or see how our honeymoon planning works.
